Intro

Bleach is a manga created by Tite Kubo published in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in Japan from August 7, 2001 to August 22, 2016, for a total of 686 chapters, which were then collected into 74 volumes by Shūeisha Publishing House.

An anime TV series based on the manga was also broadcast, produced by Pierrot and directed by Noriyuki Abe, which aired on TV Tokyo from October 5, 2004 to March 27, 2012, for a total of 366 episodes divided into 16 seasons.

Plot

Ichigo is a boy who can see ghosts. His family includes two sisters with powers similar to his and a skeptical and somewhat unhinged father. One day, he finds himself involved in a supernatural accident and, thanks to his powers, he is the only one who understands what is really happening.

The disturbances of the last days are caused by creatures called Hollow, who hunt and devour the souls of ghosts and spiritually minded people. The Hollow are faced by shinigami, deities of death who are also invisible to ordinary people and are tasked with giving peace to souls trapped on Earth.

Because of his supernatural powers, Ichigo soon becomes a prey to the Hollow and, in an attempt to save his family, becomes a shinigami himself.

Filler and Mixed Filler and Canonical, what is the difference?

Filler episodes are defined as those episodes of an anime that are completely filler and devoid of plot, thus non-canonical. Plot

Young Ichigo is a high school student capable of seeing the spirits of ghosts, a unique characteristic. He lives his days coyly but helping these spirits, until one of them comes to his house, convinced that he is unseen.

Plot

Soul Society saga: the rescue (42 – 63)

Plot

The shinigami are in chaos, with several clashes between the various divisions. There is Toshiro Hitsugaya accusing Gin Ichimaru of Aizen‘s death, while Zaraki rescues Ichigo ‘s allies but is then stopped by Komamura and Tosen, with the latter being defeated despite the use of bankai.

Renji tries to save Rukia, but is stopped by Byakuya. The execution begins, but everything is stopped by Ichigo‘s return. Facing the protagonist is Byakuya himself, and the two begin a fierce confrontation where they both use bankai.

Saga of the Bounts (64 – 91)

Plot

I Bount also known as Bounto or Bound, are a group present only in the filler episodes of the animated version of Bleach, were artificially created in the Soul Society long before the time of the main plot: they are in fact the result of a failed science experiment, which was aimed at the pursuit of eternal life. The person in charge of the experiment was Ran’Tao, a Shinigami of the science and technology division.

Plot

In 2022 the new saga came out, which so far has no fillers and I recommend seeing it all. On the whole, Bleach, has a lot of fillers compared to other anime of its caliber, on the plus side, if you want to catch up on this series you can follow this guide and in not too many episodes you will have a complete picture of the plot, characters and backstory.
