FIFA 23 – Fut 23 Ultimate Team Forms, Tactics & Instructions.

Intro

With the recent official release of Fifa 23 in the European market, a great many gamers have already started experimenting with the various combinations that can be implemented in game regarding modules and tactics.

All Fifa fans know how important it has become, especially net of the latest editions of the title, to know how to choose the most suitable module for us and skillfully set tactics and player instructions. These customized strategies are really critical to make sure that our players are optimally arranged on the field and reflect the type of game we want to implement.

For more than a few years now, these customizable settings have also become available on Ultimate Team, in which they have gained further value, giving advantages to players who know how to use them to their full potential. Clearly, tactics and player instructions vary greatly depending on the module used, so, as mentioned, choosing well the module to use is also crucial.

In this article we will focus on figuring out which modules are best or best suited to our style of play, we will analyze what we think is the best set of modules and tactics, for a more in-depth analysis we refer to the video posted on the Youtube channel. Next we will take a general look at what are the best tactical options to set up in various modules we have chosen in order to have a well-organized team on the field that will maximize the potential of our chosen field arrangement.

How to choose a module

If we do not have a roster to use, or if we want to find a module that will make it easier for us to overwhelm our online opponents, we need to figure out how to choose a winning module, based, of course, on our characteristics.

Keeping as a reference the absolute most played mode by video gamers who love the EA Sports weblog title, viz. Ultimate Team, first we need to have in mind which players use, so knowing what championship are part of and what nationality are, so as to generate as high a level of understanding as possible. Without this shrewdness, regardless of the form and tactics used, our players would be poorly fielded and would not perform at the level of their potential.

From this point of view, this year on Fifa23 we are facilitated: to determine the level of understanding of our team, the role of the player is no longer decisive, but only the nationality and the league, and also the players can not lower stats than their base value.

If we do not know what players to use, a good way to experiment with possible formations is to choose the players to use is to create an experimental roster on “Rose Management.” In experimental rosters we can include players we do not have and calculate the understanding they would develop, as well as varying field arrangements by changing modules.

There are more than 30 modules that can be used, and each has different characteristics and player roles. It is imperative for a Fifa player to use a form that has the most appropriate characteristics for his or her game maneuver and defensive strategy.

Usually for newcomers it is important to understand how much importance we give to the defensive phase: the better we are at defending, the less we will worry about increasing the number of defenders we have available in the module. For convenience, we can divide them according to the number of defenders, so there are modules of 3, 4 and 5 defenders.

If a player has problems in the defensive phase, the most intuitive way to remedy the problem, at least initially ,is to use a 5-man defense or opt for a 4-man defense with at least one halfback. Thanks to these choices you will have many players in coverage.

If, on the other hand, our style of play is solid or we find problems in the offensive phase, we can try a 3-man defense with a lot of density in the midfield, or a module with one or two strikers and two outside players or the trequartista.

Fifa 23 having been released last month, in September, we already have the first indications of which modules are most effective on Ultimate Team and the corresponding tactics to match. Let us therefore go through them in detail and devote a brief but detailed analysis to them.

Fifa 23 best set modules and tactics

First, we want to propose a complete set of modules, tactics and instructions that can be used that in our opinion is really very performant and adaptable to the various situations that may arise in game.

Ultra Defensive: 5-2-1-2

Tactics:

Defense

Defense style: Balanced

Breadth: 50

Depth: 60

Attachment

Maneuver construction: Quick maneuver

Opportunity creation: Direct Passes

Width: 55

Players in the area: 5

Corners: 1

Punishments: 1

Instructions:

ASA: Offensive Insertions: Participates in attack, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Type of insertion: Overlapping, Position on defense: Stay in position

DC: Offensive maneuver support: Stay behind in attack, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Position on defense: Stay in position

ADA: Offensive Insertions: Join the attack, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Type of insertion: Overlapping, Position on defense: Stay in position

CC: Offensive maneuver support: 1 Stay behind in attack, 1 balanced attack Support on crosses: Insertion for balanced crosses, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Free placement: Stay in position, Position on defense: Cover on the flanks

COC: Offensive maneuver support: Stay forward, Support on crosses: Insertion for balanced crosses, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Free placement: Stay in position.

ATT: Support insertions: Stay central, Offensive insertions: Insert behind, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Defense support: Support in basic defense.

This module with this setting is truly amazing. In the defensive phase, great care must be taken not to go out too recklessly with the central defenders. In the offensive phase, it is recommended to pass the ball vertically to our attackers, so as to take advantage of the ASA/ADAs that will overlap on the flanks.

Defensive: 4-4-2

Tactics:

ATT: Support insertions: Balanced amplitude, Offensive insertions: Insert behind, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Defense support: Basic defense support.

This formation has a conservative purpose; it is very useful when after scoring the go-ahead goal we want to cover ourselves a bit more, while still remaining potentially dangerous on the offensive end as well.

Offensive: 4-2-3-1 wide

COC: Defensive maneuver support: Stay forward, Support on crosses: Get into area for cross, Free placement: Stay in position, Interceptions: Normal interceptions

ATT: Support insertions: Stay central, Offensive insertions: Insert behind, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Defensive support: Stay forward.

This form with this setup works particularly well against players who use the 5-man defense or otherwise tend to stay very squashed in their own half of the field.

Ultra offensive: 4-3-3 (4)

DC: Offensive maneuver support: Stay behind in attack, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Position on defense: Stay in position

TD: Offensive Insertions: Stay behind in attack/Participate in attack, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Type of insertion: Mixed attack, Position on defense: Stay in position

CC: Defensive attitude: Balanced defense, Offensive maneuver support: Stay behind in attack, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Defensive stance: Center coverage, Free placement: Stay in position.

COC: Defensive maneuver support: Stay forward, Support on crosses: Enter area for cross, Free placement: Stay in position, Interceptions: Normal interceptions.

AS/AD: Support defensive maneuvering: Support in basic defense, Create Occasions: 1 Balanced amplitude, 1 Cut inside, Support insertions: Balanced support, Support on crosses: Insertion for balanced crosses, Interceptions: Normal interceptions

ATT: Support insertions: Stay central, Offensive insertions: Mixed attack, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Defensive support: Stay forward

This formation set up in this way serves mainly to recover our opponent when we are losing, so it is very offensive and unscrupulous. We can put participates in the TS/TD attack when we attempt the final assault in the last minutes of the game.

Fifa 23 Most effective modules and tactics on FUT

After this first month of experimentation, it appears that Fifa 23’s new meta regarding forms and tactics favors a thick, tight midfield that can exchange the ball quickly to create gaps in the opponent’s defense useful for forcing its attackers toward the goal.

Starting from this logic, the first module that will be analyzed is the 4-3-2-1, and below are the other modules that we find most effective in the first few months of play in Ultimate Team mode.

4-3-2-1

This form has gained many admirers lately on Fifa 23, precisely for the reasons that were mentioned just above. In addition, this year the two second forwards result as ATS and ATD, which is very interesting since unlike last year we can give them instructions typical of forwards.

Advantages:

This form is very explosive, proving particularly strong in counterattacks, with the tactics that will be suggested below aiming to launch your three attackers, who should possibly be very fast, toward the goal. Another positive note is the defensive solidity, in fact, with the right instructions to the CC we will be able to enjoy 4 players who are always in coverage plus one who is very involved in the defensive phase and two others who can give coverage on the flanks when needed.

Disadvantages:

The lack of a central trequartista can be a problem for players who are accustomed to having a reference in the center of the field; moreover, it will be easier for your opponent to get into your half of the field, although in case of counterattacks this can prove useful. To make the best use of this scheme, it is necessary to have a very strong cc that is also physically strong and wing halves that are skilled in phrasing.

Tactics:

Defense

Defense style: Balanced

Amplitude: Between 40 and 45

Depth: 60

Attachment

Maneuver construction: Long ball

Opportunity creation: Direct Passes

Breadth: 40

Players in the area: 5

Corners: 1 or 2

Punishments: 1 or 2

Instructions:

TS: Offensive Insertions: Stay behind in attack, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Type of insertion: Mixed attack, Position on defense: Stay in position

DC: Offensive maneuver support: Stay behind in attack, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Position on defense: Stay in position

CC: Offensive maneuver support: Stay behind in attack, Support on crosses: Insertion for balanced crosses, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Free placement: Stay in position, Position on defense: Cover in the center

CCS/CCD: Offensive maneuver support: Stay behind in attack, Support on crosses: Insertion for balanced crosses, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Free placement: Stay in position, Position on defense: Center coverage

ATS/ATD: Support insertions: Balanced amplitude, Offensive insertions: Insert behind, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Defense support: Basic defense support.

ATT: Support insertions: Stand in the middle, Offensive insertions: Insert behind, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Defensive support: Basic defensive support.

4-4-2

This is one of the most classic and used modules of Fifa in recent years, it is definitely very reliable and recommended for newcomers to the video game.

This is a really solid form. In the midfield we have 2 midfielders and 2 outside midfielders. We can create the actions by having possession of the ball between departments and exploiting the flanks to carry the ball forward, with the ability to make changes of play that can disrupt the opponent’s set-up and exploit spaces.

Advantages:

A balanced scheme but not easy to use, it is potentially effective both offensively and defensively, this is definitely its strength. The presence of the two midfielders and outfielders makes it easier to get out of one’s own half of the field with ball possession and creates good density in the middle of the field.

Theuse of the sides allows the game to move from the center to the outside with ease, in fact this form is recommended for those who like to develop their action with a dense network of passes.

Disadvantages:

It can be difficult to organize the defensive phase. When the two CCs go up to participate in the attacking action, there is a risk of being left uncovered if the opponent attacks from the central part of the field, especially in the case of a quick counterattack after a lost ball at the edge of the area.

Losing the ball in crucial areas is most dangerous, as the only flaw in this form seems to be precisely suffering from counterattacks. Of paramount importance in using this formation is to have two central midfielders who are strong, pliant and complete in both phases. The outfielders, as usual, must be agile and quick to allow us to sprint the maneuver.

4-2-3-1

This module is one of the most used in recent years on Fifa, even in this first part of the season on Ultimate Team is’ having good luck. It makesbalance its strong point and has very few weaknesses. There are two variations: the narrow one with three quarterbacks and the wide one with two outsiders and a central quarterback.

Unlike the 4-4-2, we find it useful here to analyze both of the available variants, as they may be advisable for two very different types of players. We start with the narrow 4-2-3-1.

4-2-3-1 Narrow

This is one of the most solid and balanced modules in the game, the presence of the two midfielders provides excellent coverage in the defensive phase, the midfield remains compact with as many as 5 midfielders in the central areas of the field, and the offensive phase is excellent but not always easy to develop.

Advantages:

A form that enjoys solidity and compactness in the middle of the field, strong in both phases. The presence of the two midfielders makes it very problematic for opponents to create scoring opportunities, while the presence of the 3 trequartists makes it easy for us to carry the ball from our own half of the field to the opponent’s half of the field with phrasing and insertions.

Disadvantages:

Compared to the other variant, the lack of pure flank outsiders makes the maneuvering that can lead us to crosses more cumbersome; one can try to make up for this problem with fast and strong full-backs in the offensive phase. Thestriker, having to carry the weight of the attack on his shoulders, must necessarily be both quick, in order to split the opponent’s defense, and physically strong, so that we do not lose the ball when he has his back to the goal.

Tactics:

Defense style: Pressing on the first check

Maneuver construction: Quick maneuver

Opportunity creation: Offensive insertions/direct passes

DC: Offensive maneuver support: Stay behind in attack, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Position on defense: Stay in position

TD: Offensive Insertions: Stay behind in attack, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Type of insertion: Mixed attack, Position on defense: Stay in position. Ideal Workrate: High/Medium

CDC: Defensive posture: Balanced defense, Offensive maneuver support: Stay behind in attack, Interceptions: 1 Intercept pass lines, 1 Normal interceptions, Defensive posture: Cover on the flanks, Free placement: Stay in position

COC: Support defensive maneuver: Stay forward, Support on crosses: Insertion for balanced crosses, Free placement: Stay in position, Interceptions: Normal interceptions

COS/COD: Support defensive maneuver: Stay forward, Support on crosses: Enter area for balanced cross, Free placement: Stay in position, Interceptions: Normal interceptions

ATT: Support insertions: Balanced amplitude, Offensive insertions: Mixed attack, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Defense support: Basic defense support

4-2-3-1 Wide

This variant also proves to be very solid and balanced; it is one of the best performing formations in Fifa defensively. The presence of the two middles again provides excellent coverage in the center, this solidity, however, we also find in the coverage on the flanks.

The offensive phase compared to the 4-2-3-1 Stretto is more cumbersome, as the distance between the midfielders on the wing and the central striker/trequartist increases, we will have to be good at connecting the two departments well.

Advantages:

A balanced and solid form in every area of the field, the best in the defensive phase. The presence of the two midfielders and outfielders helps us intercept the ball in our half of the field and get the action going again. The outfielders provide us with extra coverage on the flanks, as well as being helpful in getting to the cross.

Disadvantages:

If the defensive phase is really strong, the offensive phase is less dangerous. The main risk is to become too repetitive in creating actions so as to make it easier for our opponent to counter us. To remedy this flaw, one must have the courage to attempt riskier plays, placing no brakes on imagination.

4-3-1-2

This form was perhaps the biggest surprise of last year. The conditions that made this module strong on Fifa 22 are the same as those that make it usable on Fifa 23: since it is more difficult to make short horizontal passes without getting the ball intercepted, a thick midfield is a very valuable aid.

Advantages:

His strength lies in his great solidity in the middle of the field; it will not be easy to suffer central mailings. In this form also, the trequartista is enhanced and the two strikers followed by the CCS and CCD are able to create many spaces for offensive plots.

Disadvantages:

The main problem with this form, perhaps the only one, but still very impactful, is the low width of the team on the field, this results in low use of the flanks during offensive actions. As well as the risk of being subjected to counterattacks, especially when we have against modules that use very fast outsiders or wings.

ATT: Support insertions: Stay central, Offensive insertions: Insert behind, Interceptions: Normal interceptions, Defensive support: Basic defensive support

4-2-2-2

An offensive type of formation but still able to give good coverage, especially in the center. It has similar characteristics to the 4-4-2, the difference being the presence of two offensive trequartists, who can range behind the two strikers, instead of the outside midfielders.

Advantages:

As mentioned, this module has an offensive tendency, so it may happen to attack even with six players exposing us to restarts, an important advantage, however, is the presence of two midfielders, which helps a lot in covering the central area of the field. We will have to be good at choosing two middles who can compensate for each other.

Disadvantages:

Opposing restarts could be devastating should they be brought forward on the flanks. To make the best use of this scheme, it is necessary to have two strong midfielders, fast and technical trequartists to make us less predictable, and above all, two very strong full-backs both in coverage and in attack.

3-1-4-2

Let’s start analyzing some form with the 3-man defense, staying with the logic of looking mainly at formations that can create density in the midfield. The 3-1-4-2 is a very versatile module, but we will have to be good at setting the right tactics and instructions to make the most of it. Obviously a lot depends on how familiar we are with the use of the 3-man defense.

Advantages:

This form is quite easy to use, since we have many midfielders and two strikers, with the right players we will be able to create many goal actions. Defensively it is also quite competitive, as the halfback provides cover in the center and the outside midfielders help in the defensive phase.

Disadvantages:

When we attack with many players, we have to pay extreme attention to the restarts. It is of paramount importance to try to prevent our halfback, the true pivot of the midfield, from participating in the offensive phase. In addition, it is very important to have fast and ductile midfield outfielders as well as a trio of fast and reliable central defenders.

3-5-2

Let’s look at another form that uses the 3-man defense. The 3-5-2 is the most used module among those available with the 3-man defense. It is a very solid formation that makes the midfield its strong point, both in the defensive and offensive phases we have great participation of our players.

Advantages:

As mentioned, the first advantage isbalance, since we have a thick midfield and two strikers. Setting up the maneuver is not complicated given the variety of choices we have in every situation. Defense is also performing well, the two midfielders and the two outside midfielders give a big hand to our defensive trio in coverage.

Disadvantages:

Like all modules with a 3-man defense, in the event that our outside midfield is jumped by the opponent’s attacking wing, it is essential to learn how to stall with DCS/DCD rather than intervene immediately on the opponent, thus giving our midfielders time to get back in and cover defensively. Fast midfielders with good stamina are strongly recommended, as well as a trequartista who is very strong in passing.

5-4-1

This form was chosen for a specific reason. This formation is not widely used as a balanced, basic form of our team. However, it is having a fair amount of success on Fifa23 used as a defensive or ultra-defensive module. The reason lies in the fact that it provides granitic coverage, both in midfield and defense.

Advantages:

As mentioned, the most important strength is the defensive phase; it is the only module that in addition to ASA/ADA also provides for the use of EDs/ESs, helping the 5-man defense and stay tight, with players very close together. The very flanks will be the main way to be able to break out on the counterattack and then pass the ball to our finisher.

Disadvantages:

Obviously, the offensive phase is less strong, we are almost forced to restart on the counterattack to create our own goal actions. Two very strong, fast and technical outside midfielders are a must in order to be able to trouble the opponent’s defense. In addition, the striker must be a complete player, capable of doing department by himself.
